Nominations for AWI Board of Directors

Five candidates have nominated for three positions on the Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) Board of Directors, to be elected at the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 14 November.

In accordance with the constitution, three Directors will retire at the AGM to create the vacancies to be contested. Directors Mr Brian van Rooyen, Dr Chris Abell and Mr Walter Merriman are retiring, but have all advised they will be seeking re-election.

In addition, nominations have been received from Mr John Carstairs and Mr Charles Olsson and have been supported by at least 100 AWI shareholders each.

The candidates will appear in the AGM voting papers in the following order:

1. Mr Charles Olsson.
2. Mr Brian van Rooyen.
3. Dr Chris Abell.
4. Mr Walter Merriman.
5. Mr John Carstairs.

This order was determined by an independent ballot conducted by Link Market Services.

Voting papers will be sent to AWI shareholders with the Annual Report and Notice of AGM by 20 October.

There are over 10,000 shareholders eligible to vote in New South Wales, over 6,500 in Victoria, more than 5,000 in Western Australia, 4,500 in South Australia and over 1,000 in Queensland.

The AGM is being held at the Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club in Armidale, New South Wales at 2pm on Tuesday 14 November 2006.

Immediately before the AGM, there will be an AWI forum and innovation showcase, starting at 8.30am,to enable woolgrowers to get a hands-on look at the latest developments in on and off-farm research being funded by AWI through woolgrower levies.

Shareholders unable to attend in person will be able to vote by proxy via post, fax or the Internet.
