The timely decision made by five prestigious Italian textile fairs: Ideabiella, IdeaComo, Moda In, Prato Expo and Shirt Avenue to join forces and unite to form Milano Unica, the Italian Textile Fair, has once again brought encouraging results.

This edition presenting fall-winter 2007-08 collections was held in Fieramilanocity at the Portello, and the successful outcome surpassed even the most optimistic expectations. Official closing data registered a record fair attendance of 35.544, as compared to over 30,000 visitors for the previous edition.

The participating firms, representing superior quality products, numbered over 19.929, with foreign 6.704 (+30 per). Figures showed a significant increase in firms from developing countries (China, Korea, Hong Kong, India, Russia), together with a return of buyers from important traditional markets like Japan and the United States, but moreover, European operators mainly from Great Britain, Germany, Spain, France.

The success of Milano Unica was also due to an extensive promotional campaign organized by the Foreign Trade Commission (ICE) and the Milan Chamber of Commerce, together with support from the Ministry of International Commerce.

“Another success for Milano Unica, demonstrated by the increase in visitors and Italian and international clientele – declared Paolo Zegna, president of 'Milano Unica'- further confirms that the key to success for the Italian textile industry is to work together to create an efficient quality network. Attendance increased along with the number of firms represented, but above all the quality level was maintained (+30 per foreign firms), which is an important accomplishment for our sector. The path we have chosen to follow has now become a reality.”
