Mainly inquiries for near dates and medium qualities cornered the market during the reported week, but because of lacking quantities in the countries of origin it was difficult to satisfy the demand.

Inquiries for new crops have only been singularly registered since the continuing contrary price development between the New York Futures Market and the price level for effective cotton unsettled potential customers.

Contracts were closed for Central-Asian, West-African, Israeli and Syrian descriptions as well as US-Pima for the 4th quarter 2006 and the 1st quarter 2007.

Moreover Greek cotton has been sold for the 4th quarter 2006 and Sudan cotton for the 1st quarter 2007.

Singular inquiries for the 2nd quarter 2007 have also been registered.
