The traditional Annual Dinner of the International Cotton Association (ICA) formed the conclusion of the ICA conference on October 6, 2006 in Liverpool. The conference had already taken place on the two preceding days and was attended by guests from more than 50 countries.

The Bremen Cotton Exchange was represented by its President Lueder Vollers and Executive Director Jan B. Wellmann. The program comprised among other things reports on the cotton situation in different countries of origin, the Chinese cotton politics, and the presentation of the new membership structure of the ICA as well as a training course for arbitrators.

Highlight and conclusion was the traditional “Trade Dinner“, which was held this time as a novelty and probably uniquely in the Anglican cathedral of Liverpool. Nearly 700 people participated. ICA-President Peter Wakefield mentioned in the main speech among other things that the executive committee of his association had decided an amendment of the bylaws.

According to this modification other members of CICCA (Committee for International Cooperation between Cotton Associations), which have taken over the ICA-trading rules in their conditions, are entitled to a seat in the ICA-rules-committee with full voting rights.

Since the Bremen Cotton Exchange has been the only organization having incorporated the ICA-rules until now, it will therefore be the only CICCA-member for the time being.
