The new factory was designed to be both efficient and environmentally friendly. It was built at a cost of 150 million US Dollars.
Ms. Yang is a prominent businesswoman who has appeared on the cover of Fortune Magazine as one of Asia's most powerful women. She serves on the boards of several high profile Chinese and International companies.
She is also a member of China's People Political Consultative Conference. Esquel was founded in 1978 and has grown to become a leading cotton shirt maker with over 500 million USD in annual revenue. The company is vertically integrated from cotton growing in Xinjiang province to yarn spinning, weaving, knitting, trims & accessories manufacturing and garment making. The company employs 47,000 people worldwide and produces 60 million garments a year.
Esquel owns factories in several countries, including China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Mauritius, and supplies mostly US, European and Japanese customers. It's customers include top name brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, J.Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, Nordstrom, Polo Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, JCPenney, Marks & Spencer, Next, Muji, Ito-Yokado, Right On and Hugo Boss.
