In comparison with previous year's Quarter global fabric production was 6.1 percent lower with year-on-year reductions in all regions (North America -10.0 percent, Asia -6.4 percent, Europe -4.8 percent and South America -3.9 percent).
Compared to the previous Quarter yarn inventory on world-level rose by +2.6 percent. Lower yarn stocks in Europe (-5.2 percent) were more than offset by higher ones in Asia (+5.2 percent) and South America (+0.7 percent).
The Second Quarter 2006 experienced an increase in world fabric stocks of +5.1 percent compared to the previous Quarter.
While inventories were on the rise in Asia and South America (+15.8 percent and +5.0 percent, respectively), they fell in Europe and North America (-3.4 percent and -3.3 percent, respectively).
On a year-to-year basis global fabric stocks increased by +10.1 percent with Asian stocks jumping by +57.0 percent, whereas North America, Europe and South America experienced falling stocks (-19.4 percent, -10.3 percent and -1.1 percent, respectively).
Yarn orders in Brazil grew by +1.4 percent in the 2Q 2006 but fell in Europe by -0.5 percent. On an annual basis yarn orders were up by +15.4 percent in Brazil but down -2.1 percent in Europe. With regard to fabrics Brazil recorded higher orders in the Second Quarter of 2006 (+3.3 percent), while Europe's orders fell by -0.9 percent.
In comparison to previous year's Quarter Brazil's fabric orders decreased by -2.4 percent and Europe's by -0.6 percent.
