Malaysia Airlines Cargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo) announces the introduction of two new freighter destinations for its Northern Winter 2006 schedule.

The two new destinations are Malpensa (MXP) in Italy and Guangzhou (CAN) in China.

MASkargo will fly to Malpensa twice a week using the B747-400 and B747-200 freighters; and fly to Guangzhou weekly using B747-400s. The flight routings for the new destinations are:

- Kuala Lumpur - Dubai - Malpensa - Kuala Lumpur (once weekly)
- Kuala Lumpur - Penang - Dubai - Amsterdam - Malpensa - Dubai - Kuala Lumpur (once weekly)
- Kuala Lumpur - Guangzhou v.v (once weekly)

Malaysia Airlines Senior General Manager (Cargo), Datuk J J Ong said, the new destinations will help strengthen MASkargo's position in Europe as well as improve its current position as one of Asia's best air cargo carrier.

"We are adding Malpensa and Guangzhou as new points to meet the growing demand for cargo. As MASkargo is among the top 23 air cargo operators in the world, it is not our aim to be number one but continue to be profitable. We fly to where our customers want us to fly", Ong said.

With the introduction of these new stations, MASkargo now operates nine times to Europe weekly using the Boeing 747-400 and 200 freighter airplanes, compared to eight flights weekly previously.

As Malpensa is located close to Milan which is one of the fashion capitals of the world, the most popular type of cargo uplifted is fabric. There are also items such as pharmaceuticals, spare parts, vaccine, machinery, electrical items and electronic parts flown within Italy itself.
