Grasim Industries, which specializes in production of viscose staple fibre (VSF) and is a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group, has growth plans requiring investment of Rs7,000 million. It will establish a facility in Vilayat industrial estate which is at a distance of 20 kms from Dahej, Gujarat's industrial hotspot.
Grasim will be allocated 220 hectares of land in Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) estate in Vilayat by the State Government. Sources informed that company will shortly commence operations for the venture.
VSF is a handmade and biodegradable fibre having similar traits to cotton and is largely utilized to produce fabrics for woven and knitted clothes. It is used for apparel, home textiles, dress materials, knitted inner and outer garments and non woven fabrics.
Grasim boasts a 24 percent VSF share in world market.
