The graduates of the class of 2005-06 are getting ready to present their collections for Spring-Summer 2007.

These are the first professional collections ever to be completely designed and produced by traditional artisans of Kutch. The collections will be juried by a panel composed of eminent experts in the fields of Art and Craft.

The Convocation of the graduates, and the official opening of Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya are being planned as a unique event that will have all the elements of a traditional village Fair (Mela) and attract international and domestic tourists as well as locals from nearby and far-flung villages.

At the same time, it will serve as a platform for more serious interactions of designers/ buyers/ design students with the local artisans.

It is envisioned that the Vidhyalaya's Annual Convocation and Fair will be an anticipated event and that artisans will be able to easily cover the cost of their tuition in this way, as well as be able to establish lasting relationships with appropriate buyers.

Schedule and Activities
21-23 November - the students will display their collections, which will be juried by eminent experts in the fields of Art and Craft. 23-26 November – the Public Mela will follow ConvocationCeremony.

While we are still in the process of finalizing the exact schedule, some of the events planned are: Workshops in weaving, block printing, bandhani and embroidery with artisans in our studios. Camel cart rides to Tunda Vandh, our neighbouring Rabari village world famous for its mud bhunga homes. Folk music and dance of Kutch. Local snacks and Kutchi meals. A Fashion Show of the students' work.
