Leading global market leader in the airport retail industry Nuance Group has appointed Karel Snijder as new General Manager Schiphol Airport. He is assuming his new role as of November 20 and replaces Henri Koopman, who has left the company in pursuit of alternative career opportunities.
Karel Snijder joins The Nuance Group from the Rossmann health and beauty chain in the Czech Republic, where, in his function as COO, he was responsible for 100 stores, 500 employees and annual sales of EUR 62 million. Prior to that, he held positions with Albert Heijn XL in the Netherlands, Royal Ahold in the Czech Republic and Makro Cash & Carry in the Netherlands, Brazil, Poland and the Czech Republic.
Jean-Paul Bonnel, CEO, The Nuance Group Europe, states: “Karel Snijder brings to the company a wealth of retail experience that has been accumulated both in the Netherlands and abroad. We are very pleased to have him on board.” Referring to Snijder's predecessor, Bonnel adds: “We would like to thank Henri Koopman for his contribution to our company's success. Over a period of nearly 10 years, Henri has been instrumental in lifting our chocolate concession at Schiphol to a fine level of performance. Henri is leaving behind a sustainable business that is poised for the next stage of development.”
Swiss-based The Nuance Group is the global market leader in the airport retail industry, operating 340 shops across 57 airports and 17 countries around the globe. In addition to its duty- and tax-free operation, the Nuance portfolio comprises a large portfolio of specialist shops as well as food & beverage operations, in-flight services and shops in other travel retail channels.
