The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has urged the National Rural Business Hubs Council (NRBHC) to mobilise the business community to make their contribution in bridging the widening rural-urban divide and ensuring inclusiveness of the growth process.
Speaking at a function on 'The State of the Panchayats', here , the Prime Minister emphasised that the Rural Business Hubs could be our answer to the successful Village Enterprises model in China that constitute the backbone of the Chinese rural economic miracle.
The Prime Minister stressed the devolution of the three Fs – functions, finances and functionaries to the Panchayats, if they were to be truly empowered to fulfil their mandated role. He also underlined the need for free and fair elections.
Dr. Singh hoped that States would take measures to make our democracy not only the largest and most representative one but also the cleanest.
