For tightening their grip on EU markets, local textile producers have decided to take help from France.

Samir Saigol, Chief of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), Punjab Zone, addressed a Franco-Pakistan seminar with Economic Department of French Embassy in Pakistan, French Agency for International Business Development and French Textile Machinery Manufacturers' Association being co-organizers.

He stated that France could help increase access of country's textile goods to EU markets.

He said textile units of Pakistan had achieved growth worth $6 billion from start of 2000. He added that the country has a major share in world textile market and for past few years it has been expanding its textile industry.

France is the fifth largest global exporter of textile machinery and there is much scope for local textile sector to adopt French technology. But Pakistan's imports of textile machinery from France are too limited.
