Track and Trace programme of the United States-based Organic Exchange has reduced gap between cotton farmers and end consumers.

Buyers of garment made from organic cotton can know details of the farmer, the farm, the mill, the processing and the manufacturing unit related to the organic cotton used in it. He has to enter garment code on website and all the information related to raw material used can be found.

This programme will add transparency to entire production process and help in building confidence in buyer.

There is huge demand for organic cotton in global markets and it is also showing up in production. India produces about 10,000 tons of organic cotton while annual global production stands at 32,000 tons.

The Organic Exchange is going to launch another website which will display database of research material, photos and videos. Website has already started dialogue with retailers in India.
