Manufacturers' shipments, inventories & orders report for Oct

Machinery, up seven of the last eight months, had the largest increase, $0.5 billion or 1.9 percent to $28.3 billion.
Shipments of manufactured nondurable goods, down three consecutive months, decreased $0.5 billion or 0.3 percent to $180.2 billion.
Unfilled Orders Unfilled orders for manufactured durable goods in October, up seventeen of the last eighteen months, increased $8.2 billion or 1.2 percent to $666.5 billion, unchanged from the previously published increase. This was at the highest level since the series began and followed a 4.1 percent September increase.
Inventories Inventories of manufactured durable goods in October, up nine of the last ten months, increased $2.2 billion or 0.8 percent to $293.8 billion, unchanged from the previously published increase. This followed a 1.2 percent September increase.
Transportation equipment, up seven of the last eight months, had the largest increase, $0.9 billion or 1.3 percent to $68.2 billion.
By stage of fabrication, October materials and supplies increased 0.9 percent in durable goods and decreased 2.1 percent in nondurable goods.
Work in process increased 1.1 percent in durable goods and 2.2 percent in nondurable goods. Finished goods increased 0.2 percent in durable goods and 0.3 percent in nondurable goods.
