JCT sets up captive plants registered for carbon credit

JCT, which deals in cotton textile and nylon filament yarn business, is commissioning modernization and expansion plans for textile unit at Phagwara.
Speaking exclusively to Fibre2Fashion, Sr VP (Finance) Sanjiva Jain told that they are planning to set up rice husk based 8 MW captive power plant at Phagwara as part of ongoing capex plan and application for registration for Carbon Credits will be made soon.
During this month, company also commissioned similar rice husk based 6 MW captive power plant at Nylon Yarn unit at Hoshiarpur, he said.
Earlier company has set up a rice husk based 5 MW Captive Power Plant in integrated textile mill situated at Phagwara. This plant is registered for carbon credit.
Carbon credits are certificates issued to countries that reduce their emission of GHG (greenhouse gases) which causes global warming.
It is issued to companies that stop usage of fossil fuels and try to utilize renewable source of energy.
