Inflation remains low in November

According to Statistics Netherlands' consumer price index, inflation was 1.0 percent in November 2006. This is slightly higher than in October when prices were 0.9 percent higher than twelve months previously. Inflation in October was at its lowest level since March 1989.

Inflation according to European method rises to 1.6 percent:
The Dutch inflation rate according to the European harmonised method (HICP) was 1.6 percent in November. This is 0.2 of a percent point higher than in October.

Eurostat, the European statistical bureau, expects the inflation rate in the eurozone for November to rise to 1.8 percent. In October average inflation in the eurozone was 1.6 percent.

Dutch inflation was below the eurozone average in October. However, the Netherlands is no longer one of the countries with the lowest inflation rate in Europe. In Luxembourg and Finland inflation was below 1 percent in October.
