Cotton earns sluggish turnover in local market

Along with firm prices, only small turnovers could be achieved in the local market during the first half of the week under report.

Again, most of the contracts were concluded for near shipment respectively delivery. There were also no offers from the origins for various qualities demanded for near date.

Conclusions for later terms could only be realised with considerable price reductions by merchants.

As a reaction on the release of the latest world agricultural production and demand estimate the quotations at the New York cotton futures market went up and further business became hardly possible.

In the Upland range the turnovers were limited onto Central Asian sorts for prompt and through into the 3rd quarter 2007, as well as Greek descriptions for prompt loading and for the 1st quarter 2007.

From among the LS/ELS varieties sales were registered in Egyptian GIZA 88 for prompt, GIZA 86 for prompt and for the 1st quarter 2007, as well as Sudan Barakat for the 1st quarter 2007.
