The incoming orders of the cotton weaving mills added up to 65.6 in September 2006 compared to 69.3 during the respective period of the preceding year (value index 2000 = 100 percent). The domestic index was reduced by 10.6 percent. On the contrary, the export increased by 6.3 percent compared to the previous year.
The cotton spinning industry registered a slight plus during September 2006, its value index rose by 0.5 percent. The domestic incoming orders have been decisive; they showed a plus of 2.3 percent compared to September 2005. The export, however, fell by 1.6 percent below the result of the previous year's period.
