“The cotton producers have been invisible at the very end of a long and complicated production chain“said Dieter Overath, executive director of TRANSFAIR.
“Fair-trade enables them to take care for their future themselves and to participate actively in the world market. The fair-trade of cotton would not totally solve the situation in West Africa, but it should be a step into the right direction. The introduction of fair-trade-cotton is a tangible support for the severe situation of those cotton producers“, said Overath.
