No festive day mood on the cotton market

All trade sources reported on a quiet week. Despite intensified inquiries, the turn-over has still been weak. Only a small amount of cotton had been sold for near dates within East- and West-Europe. Sales to Asia or worldwide have been slightly better.

The prices inclined to consolidate a little in a tight frame on the New York Cotton Futures Market There is no recognisable tendency concerning the future price development.

Significant turn-over had only been achieved with Central-Asian descriptions for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2007. Quantities from Chad had been sold for the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the next year.

Beyond it, just a few contracts had been closed for West African cotton for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarter 2007, some Greeks for near dates and some Brazilian descriptions up to the new crop (on-call-purchase from Far East).

Looking at long staple varieties, US Pima, Central Asian cotton and a small amount of Giza 70 + 86 + 88 had been sold for the 1st quarter 2007.
