Households spent more money on clothes & shoes in Oct

According to Statistics Netherlands, households spent 2.3 percent more in October 2006 than in the same month last year. Household expenditure on goods and services increased considerably by 2.9 and 1.7 respectively.
Substantial increase in spending on durable goods Spending on durable goods increased most in October. This was also the case in the preceding months.
Household spending on durable goods increased by 4.6 percent in October 2006, relative to October 2005.
In the first ten months of 2006, household expenditure on durable consumer goods grew by nearly 7 percent compared to one year ago.
In this period, households spent more money on consumer electronics, household appliances, furniture, clothes and shoes.
Robust consumption growth in 2006 Domestic consumption grew considerably in the first ten months of 2006. Household expenditure was 2.8 percent higher than in the same period last year.
The increase in domestic consumption in 2004 and 2005 was approximately 1 percent, which is substantial, also from an international point of view, and well above the European average.
