Sears Canada Board Also Names William Crowley Chairman Sears Canada Inc announced that its Board of Directors appointed Dene L. Rogers as President and Chief Executive Officer effective yesterday. Mr. Rogers has served as the Company's acting president since May 9, 2006.
Prior to his role with Sears Canada, Mr. Rogers was Executive Vice President, Restructuring and Business Improvement for Sears Holdings Corporation and previously served as Executive vice president and General Manager of Kmart Stores. He joined Kmart in October, 2003.
"I am proud of the progress Sears Canada's 37,000 associates have made this year," said Rogers. "I look forward to working with our team as we tackle the significant challenges ahead of us."
William C. Crowley, who was named Chairman of the Board of Sears Canada yesterday, said, "Dene Rogers has demonstrated the leadership and focus on profitability that Sears Canada needs to succeed in an increasingly competitive Canadian retail market."
He added, "The Board of Directors has been impressed with Dene's leadership and initiative and is confident that he is the right person to lead Sears Canada forward."
Mr. Crowley also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Sears Holdings Corporation and is Sears Holdings' Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. He has been a member of the Sears Canada Board since March, 2005.
