Fiberweb plc, a world leader in tailored nonwoven fabric solutions, announced that its investment to increase the fiber-type flexibility of its state-of-the-art spunlace line, at Bethune, South Carolina, has been completed.
The decision to expand fiber capability was taken to satisfy market demand for more natural fabrics in baby wipe, personal care wipe, and home care wipe applications.
Upgraded capabilities increase Fiberweb's flexibility to produce a wide selection of spunlace fabrics that contain cotton and Tencel in addition to traditional polyester, polypropylene, and rayon fibers. Fiberweb's new and existing customers will benefit from more diversified product offerings that utilize renewable resources and enhance softness, tensile strength, brightness, and thickness.
Dave Rousse, President Fiberweb Hygiene/Medical Americas said, "This demonstrates Fiberweb's intention to make selected investments that meet emerging needs in the marketplace for tailored nonwovens that deliver real benefits to consumers."
Celebrating its semicentennial anniversary in October, the Bethune facility manufactures specialty carded and spunlace roll goods for consumer and industrial wipes and medical applications, as well as case goods for the graphics arts business.
Fiberweb is a $1.1 billion world-leader in the design and manufacture of tailored nonwoven fabric solutions. Enjoying global reach from its 24 manufacturing sites in 14 countries across the globe, Fiberweb employs the widest range of nonwoven production and treatment technologies to meet demanding customer requirements for service, quality, and flexibility.
