Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association (PFMA) held a meeting with Minister for Commerce, Humayun Akhtar on January 15, 2007.
The minister promised footwear makers that he would raise the issue of extending R&D fund for synthetic and canvas shoe sector in upcoming meeting of Export Development Fund Board. Fund for leather shoe makers was extended by Government in the previous budget.
Akhtar approved a promotional plan for 2007-08 concerning footwear industry, which comprises visits of four delegations to overseas markets. He also agreed to the proposal of organizing annual footwear exhibition called 'Juft Show'.
