The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has teamed up with Dunavant Uganda Limited, with the purpose of upturning cotton production in Northern Uganda.

Privately owned US cotton merchandiser Dunavant Enterprise Inc is the parent company of Dunavant Uganda.

Recently, two tractors were given to farmers of Padibe in Kitgum district and another two to Forum for Kalongo Parish Women Associations based in Pader district by USAID and Dunavant collectively.

Elzadia Washington-Danaux, Deputy Director of the agency, informed the farmers while handing over tractors that if they do not misuse benefits, USAID will support them steadily in enhancing cotton production.

Partnership is expected to raise both quality and quantity of organic cotton in Kalongo. If farmers are able to produce 10,000 bales of cotton this season, more tractors will be given to them and a ginnery will be constructed in the district.
