27 Feb '07
1 min read
Formosa Petrochemical Corp has decided to delay maintenance of naphtha processor in anticipation of launching new plant in second quarter.
The plant, which turns the crude distillate naphtha into ethylene, is repaired every two years.
Plant, which underwent maintenance last year, will be due for repairs in 2008.
Company has also obtained approval of postponing the shutdown after meeting Government safety guidelines.
The new cracker will boost country's ethylene capacity by 42 percent as it has annual production capacity of 1.2 million metric tons.
