IJSG Eighth Session to discuss on policy matters in May

The two day long Eighth Session of the Council of the International Jute Study Group (IJSG) will be held at its Secretariat in Dhaka during 2-3 May 2007. All Members of IJSG - Bangladesh, India, Switzerland, and European Community (EC) will be attending the Session. EC will be representing its 27 Member States.

Non-member Countries are also likely to attend as Observers. Besides, the Associate Members representing various trade bodies on Jute based in various countries including India, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh are expected to participate in the meeting.

The Council, the highest authority of the IJSG will discuss on policy matters as well as administrative and financial matters of the Group.

Important issues like world jute situation, jute market development and related matters, observation of the international year of natural fibres 2009, formulating appropriate strategies for the escalation of the world jute economy are likely to be discussed during the Session.
