Supermarket firms Tesco and Asda were looking into allegations of workers' abuse by their suppliers in Bangladesh.

This came to light after a media investigation unearthed the pitiable conditions in which workers of garment factories were made to slog on very low wages.

The employees were being forced to work around 80 hours a week in adverse working environment, with no access to trade union.

Insiders reveal that Tesco has already taken the remedial steps for improving the standards as well as working conditions of workers while Asda would opt for a surprise audit in the factories.

An accusation of abusing member staffs in South Asia's textile industry is a perennial issue. Charity campaigns like 'War on Want' have been struggling to fight for the workers' cause.
