The quotations for cotton further increased during the week under report, influencing the buying attitude of the local spinning mills considerably.

Also, many spinning mills are on work holidays and enquiries by the buyers served primarily for price orientation. The turnovers reported by the merchants were limited to minimum quantities for the local market. Better sales were reported to Far Eastern markets.

In the Upland range were traded: Greek descriptions for the 3rd quarter 2007 and West African types for prompt; as well as Chad cotton from the new crop for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2008.

In the ELS/LS range, Sudan Barakat cotton was sold for the 3rd and 4th quarter.
