EUP, “the third green barrier” of EU, will be formally carried out on August 11th. In order to know whether this EUP will cause impact to Feiyue Group, a group taking EU as its main export destination, the author interviewed Ye Puchang, a man responsible to standard authentication, days before.

Ye Puchang said that, compared to WEEE and RoHS, this was the first time for EUP to bring in the notion “Product Life Cycle”, and ask for energy saving and environmental protection during the whole procedures, from design, production, use to waste disposal.

EUP asks the enterprises, when designing a new product, not only to consider the function, performance, material, machinery, appearance and so on, but also to consider the influence that product life cycle will make to energy sources, environment and natural resources, the purpose of which is to improve energy utilization ratio, minimize the bad influence that might be made to environment.

At the same time, the products that have conformed to the standards of EUP should be attached a sign “CE”, and then, they can get the passport to European markets.

“The carry-out of EUP will not only increase the raw material cost, but also increase design and production cost, for example, the enterprise should take some relative management and tests in aspect of energy saving, environmental protection and so on in every detail during the production, and then make explanation in detail in technical report that must be provided,” said Ye Puchang, “Green barriers of Europe are not impassable; rather than restricted by it, it is better to make preparation before it comes."
