Capital Goods: Nondefense new orders for capital goods in June increased $3.4 billion or 4.6 percent to $76.2 billion. Shipments decreased 0.1 percent to $66.0 billion. Unfilled orders increased $10.2 billion or 2.6 percent to $407.5 billion. Inventories increased $0.3 billion or 0.3 percent to $121.7 billion.
Defense new orders for capital goods in June decreased $1.1 billion or 13.9 percent to $7.0 billion. Shipments decreased $0.4 billion or 4.4 percent to $7.9 billion. Unfilled orders decreased $0.9 billion or 0.6 percent to $142.4 billion. Inventories increased 0.2 percent to $16.8 billion.
Revised May Data: Revised seasonally adjusted May figures for all manufacturing industries were: new orders, $417.4 billion (revised from $416.9 billion); shipments, $418.1 billion (revised from $417.8 billion); unfilled orders, $725.8 billion (revised from $725.7 billion); and total inventories, $515.3 billion (revised from $515.0 billion).
