The works holidays of the spinning mills have now begun in all regions. Merchants reported that enquiries have virtually reached zero.
In the meantime the upward tendency of the cotton quotations in New York has resumed. After a slightly weaker market trend at the beginning of the week under report, the quotations have increased about 2 US-$ cents above the fixing day of the week before.
The reported turnovers were limited on smaller quantities of Central Asian origins for prompt delivery and immediately after the end of the works holidays, as well as a smaller lot of US cotton for prompt delivery.
In the ELS/LS range the sale of a lot of Egyptian GIZA 86 was registered for delivery in the 4th quarter 2007.
