Currently, India is everybody's playground. The large and galloping economy growing at the rate of 9%, is presenting both local and international players with massive opportunities in almost every sector as never before. The once traditional market is open for global influences and business.

International mergers and acquisitions are the flavour of the season, from steel to retailing. The fashion industry is not willing to be left behind, with the world's most famous brands setting up shop in India's chicest new malls.

As reported recently, Louis Vuitton, part of the LVMH group, plans to set up its first manufacturing plant in Asia in Pondicherry, India, along with an Indian partner in preference over other Asian countries.

Other major brands are also swiftly establishing themselves in India. Against this background, Texworld India, the country's acknowledged apparel textile event stands poised to attract the country's major players along with international manufacturers looking for their first steps into an incredible market.

Texworld India's debut last year showcased 98 exhibitors from 14 countries. Held alongside Heimtextil India the event attracted more than 12,456 visitors from 99 countries. This year it is expected to increase with the apparel industry recognising its strength as a perfect international meeting point.
