These are the times when strong leadership becomes even more critical, and with a new CEO starting in January and now a new Chairman and Deputy Chairman, there's a fresh new team in place to take the industry forward.

“As Chairman I would like to guide Cotton Australia to a period of readiness for when this drought breaks and when water availability improves,” Mrs Grainger said.

“We will continue to work on emerging issues such as carbon trading and the National Plan for Water Security, as well as supporting growers in the Best Management Practices program through new, on-line and digital tools,” she said.

At Cotton Australia's AGM the Board also elected a new Deputy Chair, Gwydir grower David Robinson. Cotton Growers Ian Walton, Tom Siddins and Bernie George stepped down from the Cotton Australia Board.

Namoi Cotton representative Bob Bell was re-elected unopposed.
The Board would especially like to thank outgoing Chairman, Mr Bernie George for his valuable contributions to the organisation over many years.
