UNCTAD, DoC & TC to hold Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on Indo-EU trade

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD-India) in collaboration with the Department of Commerce (DoC) and Industry, (Government of India) and Textile Committee (TC), Ministry of Textiles (Government of India), Mumbai, is organising a one-day Stakeholder's Consultation Workshop on “India – EU Trade Partnership Negotiations: Identifying products of Concern to India”. The date and venue of the workshop is as follows:

Venue: Auditorium, Textiles Committee, P.Balu Road, Off. Veer Savarkar Marg, Prabhadevi, Next to Trade Plaza (formerly Tata press) Mumbai – 400 025.

The Stakeholders from the States/Union Territories of Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu from identified sectors like agricultural products, fish, chemicals and allied products, raw materials and skins, paper and paper board, footwear, ceramic products, textiles & clothing, electrical machineries and parts there of, plastic chemicals and edible oil will be participate in the One-Day Consultative Workshop.

It is evident that the EU is the most favoured export destination of India. Our exports to European Union (EU) are increasing at an accelerate rate during the past years. Now, India and EU are planning a negotiation on trade partnership. The dialogue will pave the way for either tariff reduction elimination in most of the products imported from EU.

India will also receive the benefit of tariff reduction of elimination for its exports. The workshop would bring together representatives of the States Government, Civil Society Organisations, Consumer Organisations, Industry Representatives, Export & Policy Makers involved in the respective fields.
