Foreign wholesale trade up in Q2

Domestic wholesale trade had mixed performance in 2Q 2007. The overall wholesale trade increased marginally by 1.9% over 2Q 2006.

Double digit growths were recorded in the domestic wholesale trade of general wholesale trade (22.5%) and industrial & construction machinery (16.6%). Wholesale trade of chemicals & chemical products registered a small increase of 2.7% in 2Q 2007 after reporting lower sale in previous four quarters.

Conversely, lower sales were reported in wholesale sectors of household equipments & furniture (-9.5%). At constant prices, the overall index increased by 6.3% in 2Q 2007 over a year ago.

Change over previous quarter:
Compared to 1Q 2007, the overall domestic wholesale trade 2Q 2007 rose by 8.6%. The overall wholesale trade for 2Q 2007 increased by 5.9% over 2Q 2006. Wholesale sectors of chemicals & chemical products (11.9%) fared well in 2Q 2007.

At constant price, the overall foreign wholesale trade increased by 9.4% in 2Q 2007 over 2Q 2006.

Change over previous quarter:
On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the overall foreign wholesale trade in 2Q 2007 increased by 16.9%. Foreign wholesale trade of chemicals & chemical products also registered double-digit growths compared to 1Q 2007.
