International association, like INTA i.e. International Trademark Association & QBPC-Quality Brand protection Committee China have joined the efforts of National Committee of IP Owners to Combat Counterfeiting & Piracy.
Counterfeiting & Piracy undermines India's Industrial and Innovative fabric and creates a huge disincentive for investment, innovation and research and development.
Counterfeiting is a national problem, which is impacting our economic growth as well as FDI inflow in the Country. It weakens the tax base, for not only do Counterfeit products evade taxes since they are cash-based, but they invite consumers to get into the habit of tax evasion.
On the other hand Piracy can be extremely harmful to consumers and may cause a serious health and safety risk to the public.
Piracy connects legitimate businesses and the innocent public with criminals and their illegal businesses and funds organized crime such as drug trafficking and terrorism.
