Retail sales volume goes up in June

The volume of retail sales (i.e. excluding price effects) increased by 6.5% in June 2007 compared to June 2006. There was a monthly decrease of 1.9%.

The value of retail sales increased by 7.3 % in June 2007 compared to June 2006 and decreased by 1.7%in the month.

May 2007 is the latest month for which final detailed figures are available. The three-month March 2007 – May 2007 volume figures show that, compared with the three months ending February 2007:

• The largest increase in the volume of sales was in the Footwear & Leather (+10.5%) sector.
