"I will maintain an intense interest, as AWS Chairman, as a woolgrower and as a shareholder, in how the AWS Assets that will now be sold to AWI are handled in the integrated company.”
“I would like to thank woolgrowers and shareholders, the Australian Minister for Agriculture, Peter McGauran, Australian wool grower organisations, my fellow AWS Directors and our staff, and Ian McLachlan and the Board and staff of AWI for their support in what has been a frustrating yet ultimately rewarding process.”
Once the transition of these core assets is complete, AWS will continue to operate as a small secretariat for the principal purpose of managing the company's responsibility to the IWS Pension Fund. AWS will retain cash from the sale of assets, as well as the Andar textile machinery business in New Zealand and a property in Mumbai, India.
