Mills in observant position

The volume traded on the Bremen cotton market remained limited during the past week. Mainly sales of smaller lots from merchants´ positions could be sold for near delivery dates.

With regard to the weaker cotton quotations in New York and reports on "bumper"-crops several mill buyers seem to wait for further dropping prices.

Offers from the countries of origin, particularly Greece and the West African growths, however, were clearly higher than the calculated price ideas of the potential buyers, and hindered more business.

In the Upland range were traded: Central Asian sorts for prompt and further through 1st quarter 2008; West African types for the 4th quarter 2007 and Greek descriptions for the 1st quarter 2008.

Sales figures on ELS/LS cotton were limited on Egyptian GIZA 88 for prompt delivery.
