India's software to join hands with Taiwan's hardware

Taiwanese investors can utilise the manufacturing boom in India, which has started picking up from last fiscal year. Manufacturing sector in India has grown at the fastest rate in the last 12 years.

India is strong in software sector which can compliment Taiwan's hardware expertise effectively, together in the international markets can become a reckonable force.

Taiwan has a rich experience of engagement with SMEs in China, where Taiwan is the largest foreign investor. Channeling some of the investments into India would help risk diversification and facilitate utilisation of under-utilised capacity of this sector in India.

Taiwan faces the challenge of the graying population. While it may be able to secure low-cost labor from East Asian countries, it can take advantage of India's relatively young manpower through outsourcing and off shoring of many activities, and investments in India. Since the reciprocal establishment of representative offices in 1995, bilateral trade has more than trebled. By 2005-06, it surpassed US$ 2 billion.

During the visit the delegation will also participate in a full day Business Seminar on “India & Taiwan: Opportunities in Business, Trade and Commerce” in Taipei, on 4th September where over 200 Taiwanese Businessmen, Govt officials, trade organisations, academia, media, etc are expected to participate.
