MEA says Government gets bad advice

“Now, the latest idea is to support companies in a way which will accelerate the loss of capability and jobs lost offshore - I would have thought a better starting point would have been to build jobs, skills and capabilities locally. I doubt few New Zealander's would by happy to see their taxes spent to move jobs offshore” says Mr. Walley.

“The Government is choosing to listen to dumb advice, with only 2000 exporters selling more than $0.5m, why not talk to those doing the selling and cut out all the non-exporting experts on exporting“.

“The MEA conducted a snap-poll on this recent announcement and 73% of our constituency is opposed to this scheme and has consistently called for policy assistance that enables New Zealand companies to build exports but from a New Zealand base."

"Instead, our non-exporting experts on exporting do not believe that this is possible, so we are seeing the establishment of another Government direction that will serve the interests of a few, select people”.
