Higher prices of clothing and footwear pushed the inflation rate up by 0.6 of a percentage point, while higher prices of bread and cereals added 0.4 of a percentage point and other rises in September 0.2 of a percentage point. Higher prices of food and catering services added 0.1 of a percentage point each.
Annual inflation unchanged:
The annual growth of prices remained the same at 3.5% (in the same period last year it was 2.5%), while the 12-month average price growth rose to 2.8% (in the same period last year it was 2.5%).
Compared to September 2006, services were on average 4.7% more expensive and goods 2.9%. Among goods, in one year the prices of non-durable goods grew by 4.1% and the prices of semi-durable goods by 2.9%, while the prices of durable goods fell by 1%.
Harmonised indices of consumer prices:
Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, prices in September went up by 0.4%. Compared to a month before, the annual price growth increased to 3.6% (in the same period last year it was 2.5%), while the 12-month average price growth increased to 3% (in the previous month it was 2.9% and in the same period last year 2.6%).
In September 2007 goods prices went up by 1.2% while the prices of services went down by 0.9%. As regards goods, the prices of semi-durable goods jumped by 5.9% and of non-durable goods by 0.5%, while the prices of durable goods fell on average by 0.2%. Compared to September 2006, service prices went up by 5.1% and goods prices by 2.8%.
The highest monthly rise was observed in these groups: clothing and footwear (by 9.6%), miscellaneous goods and services (by 0.4%), and furnishing, household equipment and maintenance (by 0.1%). Prices fell in the groups recreation and culture (by 3.5%), transport (by 1.3%).
