Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) announced the formation of the CII VLFM Division and inaugurated a world class first of its kind VLFM Centre at the CII Godrej Centre of Excellence in Mumbai on September 29th, 2007.
The CII VLFM Division will institutionalize the Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing Programme being spearheaded by CII. The programme has been launched under the Joint Cooperation Agreement signed by the Prime Minister of India and Japan.
While speaking at the launch of the CII VLFM Division, Mr. Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman of the Division said “Setting up of the VLFM Division is similar to the setting up of the TQM Division in CII 2 decades back. While following the similar philosophy of converting it into a movement, this is a creative idea being implemented for the first time and would aim to help Indian Industry become innovative.”
He went on to say that in the recently concluded India@60, there was a recognition of India as a Manufacturing as well as a IT hub.
"Indian Manufacturing is occupying the attention of global leaders. Time is now just right for CII to start this initiative in partnership with Japan, with whom we want to work more.”
The CII VLFM Division will work towards building a critical mass of 150-200 visionary leaders over the next three years.
“The very unique CII Godrej VLFM Centre created for the VLFM Programme is one of the most innovative facility designed and developed for creating the most innovative learning environment, the first of its' kind in the world said Professor Shoji Shiba."
