The clips produce the same result, without the open wound. Instead, clips are attached to the flaps of skin around the tail and breech, preventing blood flow. After a few weeks the skin withers and falls off, along with the clip.
Ongoing research and development will look toward:
• Identifying the best biodegradable materials for the clips
• Designing a clip that can be used on both the breech and tail areas
• Continuing work on the placement and application of the clips
