Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has reported that the new cotton crop arrivals at the across the country reached over 1.815 million bales till October 1, representing a growth of 64.6 percent over last year's 1.103 million bales.
Arrivals in Punjab showed a rise of 35.35 percent at 0.875 million bales and Sindh stood at 0.94 million bales as compared with growth of 106 percent.
Demand for silver fibre has also seen rapid expansion with sale of 23,400 bales compared with last year's 4,000 bales till October 1.
Meanwhile, current rate for good quality lint is around Rs2,800 per maund. Price of seed-cotton or Phutti is Rs1,350 per 40 kg and government's support price for the same is Rs1,050 per 40kg.
