Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) has recently formed a labour committee whose main function will be to train the labourers who in turn can produce quality work for the local textile and apparel industry.

Vietnam targets to earn revenue of around US $12 billion from textile and apparel exports by 2010. However, to achieve it, the industry has to develop its work force. Till now most labourers in this sector were untrained. Thus, VITAS has taken this step.

Diep Thanh Kiet, Vice Chairman of Agtek (Association of garment, textile, embroidery and knitting) has been appointed as Chairman of the committee, which will be operating from International Garment Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).
