Mill demand was intensified in the week under report, however, served in many cases just for orientation. The offering prices for the raw material on the present level were not compatible with the achievable yarn prices.
Offers for new crop cotton from the producing countries remained firm. Thus, the conclusion of contracts was limited on cotton available for very near dates and from the new crop in most cases not beyond the first quarter 2008.
In the Upland range contracts were registered in Central Asian sorts for prompt, further in the 4th quarter 2007 and in the 1st quarter 2008; West African types for the 4th quarter 2007 and for the 1st quarter 2008, East African cotton for the 1st quarter 2008; Greek descriptions from old and new crop for the 4th quarter 2007 and for the 1st quarter 2008; USA and Indian cotton for dates in the 1st quarter 2008.
In the ELS/LS range were traded: Egyptian GIZA 86 for shipment end 4th quarter 2007 and 1st quarter 2008, as well as Israel Pima for the 1st through 4th quarter 2008.
