DSM Composite Resins, part of the Dutch multinational DSM, received a second award for the best innovative material during the Materialica congress and exhibition that takes place this week from 16 until 18 October in Munich, Germany.
“After winning the Innovation Award last month during the China Composites Expo in Beijing, it is a great success and honor to receive this Best Material Award in Europe for the 2nd time“; says Ben Drogt, Innovation Manager DSM Composite Resins. Out of the 81 participants applying for the Materialica Design and Technology Award, DSM was the winner of the award.
Materialica is a European trade fair for material applications, surface technology and product engineering focused on automotive, aerospace and other high performance applications that takes place at the Munich Expo for the 10th time. For the 3rd time, the Materialica fair is combined with the international fair for high-tech composites. In addition, Materialica organizes during the exhibition also congresses, forums and a design technology award in the field of high performance composites, ceramics and light weight metal materials (like aluminium and steel).
As part of their marketing strategy on innovation and dedication for composites, DSM Composite Resins participates in the Materialica exhibition for the first time this year. Ben Drogt comments: “Besides composites, the Materialica also focuses on other light weight materials like aluminium, steel, ceramic and concrete, which makes this an interesting platform to meet intermaterial competition.
Intermaterial substitution is an important driver for sustainable growth in the composite industry. DSM Composite Resins is reinvesting profits in innovative technologies and products to open up new market segments, which will bring future growth irrespective of how well the traditional segments are doing.
Composites have great benefits that potentially offer more and new opportunities in design and application than traditional steel or aluminium can offer”. DSM Composite Resins also contributes to the Materialica congress with presentations on recent developments in DSM.
