At the Summit, British Standards Institute (BSI), the world's largest certification body and CII announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for working together in areas of standards and best practice, which follows co-operation in several areas, including food safety standardization, sustainability and information security management.

New work areas between the two organizations will include exchange of best practice in the standards development arena to benefit the Indian business.

Speaking about developing customer loyalty & service through standardization, Mr. Frank Post, Group Communication director, BSI said, “In any business, customer is the ultimate boss.

Some of the surveys suggest that reducing customer defections can boost profits by 25 to 80%. A common misconception is that standards stifle innovation.

It is important to understand that standards do not tell the company how to manufacture products but ensures quality during the process of creation.

It does not restrict an organization but encourages a company to innovate continually, build world class service and exceed customer expectations.”
